IKEA, Pigs, and other stories…………

By redpanda On October 31st, 2009

Ok so lets go back to Wednesday…………nice day so we go out to Burley and decide to do two different runs……………now I am still not very good at hills and really struggled with some of the ones on the first course but absolutely loved the tracks we went down……………and it was going down one of these tracks that we heard this grunting noise…….looked over to see two pink and black pigs eating something in the grass…………it was one of those wish I had a camera moments cos they looked up and then just carried on…………….the good news was that I did not fall off and no puncture either…………….

Thursday……………….I hate the day before pay day…………no money…………….so him indoors decides that we are going to Southampton as he has to work there for the day…………so we get dropped off before the shops open…………..spend two hours wandering round West Quay…………..going in nearly every shop and the Italian market they had there only managing to spend a small amount…………..in John Lewis and M & S………….oh and Waterstones………….my biggest spend was at IKEA…………..I tell you if I was buying a house and starting from scratch I would furnish the place from there………………I love the shop……………the way they show the rooms laid out at the top to give you ideas and the bigger furniture up there too……………..then down to the market hall where all the kitchen stuff and soft furnishings are with loads of other stuff like storage and gifts and things…………..and right down the bottom the take away today stuff and food hall……………now I like the food hall as it does have some unusual things……………trouble is when you are not sure when you are being picked up it makes it difficult to get fresh or frozen things which did look nice………………Had lunch at Harry Ramsdens in West Quay as it had the shortest queue…………..finally got home at about 6 ish……………with a huge bag of shopping……………..and two kids who were knackered but well behaved all day…………even if we did get a lot of I wants…………put it on your Christmas list……………….

Friday……………Eye test and hair cut…………..again out early and got to the hairdressers before they opened……………then went to Poole and had the eye test and was told there is a minimal change to my vision but I could have new glasses if I needed to…………..have decided not to go with that at all……………did a few bits of Christmas shopping and also got Wii Fit Plus as I have the original Wii Fit and could do with some more inspiration to get going on it again……..also got Tim a book on Mountain Bike routes in the UK……………..it meant that I did not get home as early as planned……..did the food shop as usual …………….could have bought some bits to put away and then forgot about it……………

And so on to today………………went cycling……………fell off again…………twice………..once into a holly bush and once into a deep puddle……………….felt very wet and very deflated for the rest of the day………..and then cleaned the bikes off when we got back………..looks nice and sparkly now………….then went to Tesco for the bits we could not get yesterday…………hmmmmmmmm and two tops for me and two for Tim and one for Ryan……………and Kristie’s present……………

Anyway…………..I am now completely knackered and need another week off to recover…………………..zzzzzzzzzzz

And so it goes on…………

The cooker saga for one thing and my flaming knee injury being another……

The replacement for the new cooker arrived today. They connected it up and…………..part of the touch control panel did not work which meant the ovens and timer did not work………..they took the old one out…………and to leave us with a cooker they have connected the one that had the damaged trim on it up and we are now using that one til the thrid replacement comes along…………..hope this one works………

My knee started playing up again after cycling on Saturday but at least I did not fall off this time……think I pulled something in it a bit as it really hurt for a good few hours afterwards……..I have to admit that I enjoy cycling………the wind in your hair and moving across the ground on something that is not your feet is quite enlightening……………just need to get Ryan a bike then he can come out too………..as the knee still hurt Sunday Ryan and I went for a walk whilst Tim cycled around Hurn Forest…………….and we started to collect some fir cones to make Christmas decorations with……….found some nice ones that looked quite red inside from where they had opened………….

Been experimenting with the cooking again………..did a nice salmon with dill and spring onion mash for tea the other night which was nice………..these Slimming World recipes are coming up quite good………..I lost another pound this week which I am happy about………..I need to really concentrate as I want another half stone off before Christmas if I can……….I know I can do it…………….its all mind over matter…….

Tonight also saw the first leg of the Elite League finals with Swindon and Wolverhampton chasing other for Speedways Elite prize……….at least my team missed the relegation play off’s………..I want Swindon to win the league title though…………I have a lot of time for their team manager Alun Rossiter as he used to be a rider himself…………..

No kiting or photography chat at the moment………….but will try and take some pictures and go flying soon…………..

A new month a new Job

By redpanda On March 5th, 2007

More Kite Surfing observing (some pictures to be uploaded still) and actually being able to fly at a newly dried out Baiter. First time out for the other half in his buggy since the Ho! last October and for the daughter on her board since Sky Park again last October. Wind was good and some excellent runs got in by the people who were there as it was not too overcrowded.

We also took the not so littley down there last Sunday for a blast on his 1.2 Sting which he loved. As he has Dyspraxia it helps with his co-ordination. I also had a little go on it but was a bit daunting for me not having flown since my knee injury last Easter. Still its probably a good one to practice with.

Went to the SEKA (South East Kiting Association) at Lordshill in Southampton the next day. Very gusty and Tim in his infinite wisdom managed to cut off the brake bridle and cut two of the lines on my 2m Buster. Not happy as it was my birthday present 2 years ago and has only been flown about 4 times. We think it is repairable but we are currently weighing up if its worth it due to the cost. So that means I could get a new kite out of it (a 2m Samurai would be nice dear). Still the few of us that were there had a laugh. Oh and Spook you were a bit overpowered on that Venom.

March and I started my new job. After a spell of unemployed I have taken up a position as a Home Claims Negotiator for a company specialising in property management insurance. They are a nice group of people on our small team and think nothing of sending out for food at any time whether it is cream cakes, KFC, or even fried breakfast rolls. There is me on a diet and get all this food tempting me. I will never lose weight.

So that is what has happened since the website started. With Easter coming up and the Summer I am sure there will be loads to report so will be updating this at least once a week if not more often.

It is a sad time

By redpanda On February 1st, 2007

It is a sad time for us kiters as well with the passing of Charlie in a kite surf accident off Southbourne Beach. He was a very well loved character at Baiter who had a kind word for everyone and he will be missed by everyone who knew him. We went to the funeral and instead of flowers on the casket there was his kite surf board and his trademark hat. The whole incident brought home to me just how valuable life is.

On a different note as one life leaves the world another one enters as I became a great Auntie for the second time when our eldest niece Sarah gave birth to a baby boy named Elijah. I have 2 nieces, 4 nephews and 2 great nephews.

One of my other hobbies (apart from those in the about me bit) is the tropical fish tank that we have in our lounge so we ventured out to the Porton Aquatic Centre to have a look and see what they had out there for a change from the local aquarium shops. The thing I like about this place is its nicely laid out and they do other animals as well. The kids came home saying they wanted a rabbit but we said no. Well not unless they were prepared to look after it themselves.

In the Beginning

By redpanda On January 3rd, 2007

Started getting the pictures prepared for the kite gallery. Its hard to know what to put in it sometimes so I decided to start with a flying friends one (apologies if you are not in there yet but if I have you on camera then the chances are you will be eventually). Have had loads of messages of support through the website and compliments about the pictures which is fantastic.

We went to Westward Ho! on 20 January to watch the racing on the beach. Started out very windy and eventually during the third race as we were walking back from the cafe a sudden squall hit the beach and there were horizontal hailstones everywhere and there were kites all over the place several of which had broken lines. Then again it was gusting up to 60 mph at the time so it was hardly suprising. By the time we got back to the car we were soaked through which was not brilliant for a three hour drive home. One thing I can recommend it the Breakfast Rolls at the Beach Cafe by the slipway. They are very good value for money and very filling.

Most Sundays in January were spent watching the kite surfers at Sandbanks or of Hengistbury Head.
